Izy.Aki brings a fresh and approachable take on omakase dining to Sydney’s Oxford Street. Opened in late 2024, this intimate 18-seat venue offers a Kappo Yakiniku Omakase experience, blending the interactive nature of kappo with the chef-curated journey of omakase.
Chef Darren Templeman, known for his work at Atelier and O Bar and Dining, leads the kitchen with a seasonal six or ten-course set menu. Signature dishes include ‘The Egg’—a hen egg filled with white onion puree, foie gras, smoked eel, and topped with trout roe—and a variety of grilled offerings like yakiniku-style meats and 9+ Australian wagyu.
Guests are invited to sit along the counter, engaging directly with Head Chef Bonnie Yu and bartender Aurelian Jeffredo, making for a dining experience that’s as much about connection as it is about cuisine. As Chef Templeman describes it, “It’s not just about the food; it’s about the experience. I want guests to feel like they’re part of the team, not just sitting and watching.”
